Shower Ceiling & Exhaust Duct Remediation in Howell, NJ

The Problem
A homeowner noticed dark spotting around the bathroom exhaust grille and a faint musty smell during showers. When we opened a test section of the ceiling, the back of the drywall, the ceiling joists and the old flex duct were covered in growth caused by condensation dripping from the uninsulated duct.
Our Solution
Under containment, we removed the ceiling drywall over the shower area and the contaminated flex duct. Joists and the subfloor above were cleaned, treated and encapsulated. A new insulated duct was installed with a proper slope to the exterior hood so condensation drains outside instead of into the ceiling. The ceiling was closed with moisture-resistant drywall.
